I brought a big mug of hot tea to bed with me. This could become a habit.
Rebecca and I baked a couple sourdough boules today from our own sourdough starter. The starter has been living for over a month now, and bread from it is starting to exhibit that characteristic sourdough flavor. We let it rise practically all weekend, and it developed a nice, chewy crumb with a hard, tough crust....

who do
pedrosanchez:
i tried sleeping in pajama shorts and a t shirt a week ago or something and i really don’t get how people do it at all. i woke with wedgies and i was tangled in my shirt and it was just uncomfortable.
Sleeping in a t-shirt is unpleasant; I’ve done it a couple times, and I’ve never really gotten the hang of it. It always seems to end in near-strangulation.
Even boxers...

3:00am. Still awake.
I’m watching Little Women and taking notes on the director commentary so I can write this 800-word paper about said commentary for my Film Appreciation class.
It’s not like this is a difficult assignment, or really that it’s that time-consuming. Basically, I should stop procrastinating. But we all know that I won’t.
That said, if I were in Warrensburg right now, I’d...

Valentine's Day
Rebecca and I didn’t really do anything out of the ordinary on Valentine’s Day. I wasn’t sure whether I’d be working that day until about five days prior, so I didn’t have time to make reservations anywhere exciting. I gave her a letter I wrote for her, and we relaxed and enjoyed each others company for awhile. I helped her a little with her website and taught her...

BBC News - Women say some rape victims should take... →
The study found that women were less forgiving of the victim than men.
Some 71% of women thought a person should accept responsibility when getting into bed with someone, compared with 57% of men.
The survey also found more than one in 10 people were unsure whether they would report being raped to the police, and 2% said they would definitely not do so.
The main reasons were being too ...

Tyrannosaurus Sex
The Discovery Channel is celebrating Valentine’s Day with “Tyrannosaurus Sex,” an hour-long special that probes the courtship rituals and mating habits of dinosaurs.
Yes, dinosaurs.
“‘Tyrannosaurus Sex’ doesn’t just answer the questions, it shows dinosaur sex in all its glory with state-of-the-art CGI animation,” reads a press release.

Haircut
jdlayman:
I got my hair cut today at my favorite place (the only legit Fantastic Sam’s I know of). I’m on a first name basis with the two girls. Natalie even showed me her baby today. What’s great is that, since I’m their friend now, they actually try when they cut my hair. Basically, I get a $20 haircut for $12. It’s the only place in Overland Park that actually makes me feel like I used to...

On Mondays and Wednesdays, I have a four-hour break between classes. All I want to do is fall asleep in the library, but I feel pretty awkward sleeping in public. The third and fourth floors are less populated, but I don’t get a wi-fi signal up there, so I would have to pack up my things and change floors when I want to study/sleep.
Summary: I’m so tired.

Men At Work lose plagiarism case in Australia →
From the article:
The Australian band Men at Work are facing a big legal bill after a court ruled it had plagiarised a Girl Guides’ song in its 1983 hit, Down Under.
Larrikin Music had claimed the flute riff from was stolen from Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree, written by Marion Sinclair in 1934
I love it. Could they have stolen a melody from a more Australian song for their own...
