I’m really proud of my girlfriend. Okay, so I know she’s a very talented artist, and I’m always proud of her work; but it’s really awesome to go to an awards ceremony and see my pride validated by people whose job it is to instruct and critique art. She won, not one, but two $250 scholarships for her outstanding work. One from the UCM Art Department, and one from...
I probably should have asked Rebecca before posting pictures of her artwork on the Internet, but I wanted you all to see it, and I don’t think she’d mind. I’m really proud of her! She’s a very talented artist. These are the two works she had featured in the Citation show on campus. While I was in the gallery looking around, a couple people were touring the gallery also....
I didn’t know that today was the first day of Spring until I browsed over to Google.
Excerpt from Barack Obama’s speech, “A More Perfect Union.”… We can pounce on some gaffe by a Hillary supporter as evidence that she’s playing the race card, or we can speculate on whether white men will all flock to John McCain in the general election regardless of his policies. We can do that. But if we do, I can tell you that in the next election, we’ll be...
Rebecca and I have been together for six months today. And we are awesome.
For future reference: Sweater in spanish (the article of clothing, not one who sweats) can be cardigán or suéter. Not camiseta, as I mistakenly believed. Three cheers for cognates!
50s and 60s all week. Nice! It’s been a week, and Central Band & Piano still hasn’t gotten back to Aubrey with a quote on how much it will cost to repair that violin. This could mean one of two things: they’re either really backlogged, so any repairs will take awhile; or there’s just a lot of repair work to be done. I’m not 110% sure that I used that semicolon...
The Laymans’ Camry exploded. I can’t wait to see the pictures/video.
Wow, I’d never looked at my Tumblr on a PC/in Firefox. Turns out that it’s less good-looking than I realized. WebKit makes everything so pretty.
Tonight was great. I went over to Rebecca’s at 6:30 and we made hot cross buns with her mom, and played some more Boggle. Rebecca and I then rented a movie—it only took us 30 minutes this time!—and watched it downstairs while her brother played Halo 3. Firstly, Kevin is hilarious. Secondly, tonight marks our first movie-with-arm-around experience. I don’t care how...
It’s warmer in Warrensburg than it is here, but I’m not going to complain about sunny days in the mid-60s.
Whoops. I haven’t posted anything in a couple days. Visiting JD was fun. Talking to Jen for the car ride was nice. Jen having a fecal fixation was gross. I’m not working this spring break, which is simultaneously amazing and crappy. Amazing because it’s a real break, but crappy because I could use the money. I went over to Rebecca’s last night and played Boggle with her...
I’m at J Cristale’s. It’s rad.
I don’t understand things today. It’s weird. Total mental blank.
I found my vibra-tuner! Oh my gosh… that thing has been M.I.A. for months!
Jen and I are going to visit JD tomorrow! Yay!
Aubrey and I are going to form a band, and someday make it big, only to be derailed by my coke addiction.
“Oh woman, I’m your servant / Asking for the right to look you in the eye. / Oh woman, I am dying / For you to notice how far I’ve come. / I’m moving downtown and your daughter’s walking by me, / I believe you’re still deciding if you like having me around / If they like having me around, I need to know. Why, / The mailman’s coming by to collect the box...
People in the union who take up an entire couch for themselves probably don’t understand how rude they are. But they should. Because they’re rude.
Peter Pan peanut butter is terrible in comparison to pretty much every other name-brand peanut butter.
Apparently I get a 20% discount at work on nights when I’m not working. Nice.
Rebecca is way cute for real.
It feels uncharacteristically pleasant this morning.
We closed up early tonight at the Teehaus. Employees who weren’t working tonight made up like 1/3 of our total customers for the evening. It was great to not be rushed. I think I’m going to go take advantage of this windfall and get some sleep!
So it’s like super snowy in St. Louis, but 52 degrees and sunny in Warrensburg. Weird. I was going through The Simple Dollar’s “31 Days to Fix Your Finances” guide, but it’s hard to really work through a guide for financial security when you’re working a part-time job and getting paid in cash. I work tonight. Feel free to visit me and drink tea and order things...
Dear Weather, Warm up please. Sincerely, Patrick
It’s 4am. Waking up in about five hours to take Rebecca to class. Getting less than 8 hours of sleep in a night is stupid. For all of my world-weariness, I think I’m pretty naive sometimes. “Thank you, Jesus, can I have another? / And another? Oh, thank you Lord. / If it pleases Thee to have them bangin’ down the doors, / couldst Thou let ‘em know what they’re...
I want a Polaroid relationship. Just a quick point and shoot, and then some time to let the colors into the frame. “I found the safest place to keep all our tenderness. / To keep all those bad ideas, keep all our hope. / It’s here in the smallest bones, the feet and the inner ear. / It’s such an enormous thing to walk and to listen.” The Weakerthans - My Favourite Chords.
Rufus died overnight. It’s really sad. I didn’t actually hear how sad the story was until my dad told me tonight on the phone. I’m going to miss that little furry fellow. I had a great day when I got off of work, other than that. Rebecca and I went on a nice long walk, and enjoyed each others’ company and the pleasant weather. After that, I went to the store and picked up...
Working today from noon to 5. Come eat.
